Blast Studio was commissioned by ArtLink to design a bespoke reception desk and light sculpture for the Bo Tree Hotel in London’s West End. Both pieces were inspired by the Bodhi Tree, a symbol of meditation and enlightenment.

The reception desk was 3D-printed in North-West London using a biomaterial made from over 8,000 locally collected coffee cups, gathered by bicycle within three miles of the studio.

Named Bo Root, the desk is shaped like a network of roots, with branching elements ending in brushed brass plates at different heights. A large suspended light sculpture mirrors the form of the desk, creating a central feature in the space.
