Frequently Asked Questions

  • Cupsan is a solid board material developed and manufactured by Blast Studio in London. It is made primarily from discarded takeaway coffee cups and local paper-based waste, transformed into dense boards that can be machined into furniture and interior surfaces.

  • Cupsan is designed for interior applications such as furniture, wall panels, counters, exhibition and retail fit-outs, and decorative architectural elements. Like MDF or plywood, it is used with appropriate substructures depending on the project and span.

  • Cupsan is mainly made from recycled coffee cups and paper packaging waste, combined with a bio-based binder. Coffee cups are one of the hardest paper products to recycle and are often incinerated or exported. Cupsan turns this problematic waste stream into a long-life interior material.

  • Cupsan is a dense, hard material that can be CNC-machined, sanded, drilled, and finished using standard woodworking tools. It is developed without formaldehyde-based resins and is intended for long-term interior use in residential and commercial spaces.

  • Cupsan has a mineral, terrazzo-like appearance, where fragments of the original waste remain subtly visible. Colours, textures, and finishes can be adjusted depending on the waste stream and production process. Like natural materials, each batch shows slight variation.

  • We provide sample boxes for designers, architects, and brands. We also supply Cupsan boards and finished pieces. To request samples, pricing, or place an order, please contact us on info@blast-studio.com with a short description of your project.
