Ecological Policy – Cupsan by Blast Studio
Blast Studio is committed to developing sustainable interior materials that support a circular economy and reduce reliance on virgin resources.
Cupsan is an innovative material produced in London using locally collected discarded coffee cups and paper-based waste. By transforming urban waste into durable panels and surfaces, we aim to keep valuable resources in use and reduce landfill and incineration.
Our environmental approach is guided by the following principles:
Circular sourcing
We prioritise locally available waste streams and maximise recycled content in our material formulations.
Local manufacturing
Cupsan is produced in London to reduce transport impacts and support a decentralised model of urban production.
Low-toxicity material development
Our process avoids formaldehyde-based resins and focuses on bio-based binders. Surface finishes are selected to meet professional interior standards while maintaining low VOC emissions.
Durability and long service life
Cupsan is designed for long-lasting interior applications. Finished surfaces can be maintained, repaired, or refinished to extend product life.
Continuous improvement and transparency
As production scales, Blast Studio is working toward formal environmental assessment and third-party documentation, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), to support transparent specification in architecture and design projects.
