Our circular process, transforming used coffee cups and food paper packaging into furniture and architectural elements

Interiors made from London’s waste

At Blast Studio, we dream of the cities of tomorrow being built from the waste of today. So we’ve developed a unique technology that transforms everyday urban waste, like used coffee cups and sawdust from local joineries into Cupsan, a new kind of material which is strong, sustainable, and beautiful!

Our process is rooted in circular design. Using a natural plastic free binder and without any chemical additives, we’ve reimagined existing industrial machines to press and shape this waste into durable panels and objects. The result is a versatile material that looks and feels like wood or stone, but carries the story of the city it came from.

Discarded coffee cups

We recycle used coffee cups collected from London's cafés, shredding and sterilizing them in our Park Royal studio to create a unique, sustainable biomaterial.

bIOMATERIAL

We process the coffee cup paper pulp and combine it with our plastic-free binder to create a versatile, moldable biomaterial.

OBJECTS AND PANELS

The biomaterial is then molded and pressed into a variety of shapes, suited for applications ranging from wall paneling to lampshades and furniture pieces.
